Purification of the Heart
In a time when many of us have become distracted from worship, our hearts have become distant from the Creator, and our souls seek cure from spiritual illnesses such as envy, lust, ostentation, and a variety of other things which plague us at work, at home, whilst on social media, whilst socialising, and even during times of leisure, Imam Ghazali’s Bidaya al-Hidaya is a highly motivational manual which details the fundamentals of acquiring guidance through God-consciousness (taqwa) and purity. The three sections of this book are on obedience, refraining from disobedience, and the etiquette of companionship with the Creator and with creation. The book is one of Imam al-Ghazali’s finest works, and it helps the believer to create a closer relationship to his Lord.
Allah sent His Messenger as a witness, a conveyor of glad-tidings, a warren, a caller to the truth, an illuminated lamp, a guide, and a lantern of clarity. The Prophet spent his life tirelessly inviting people to the religion with sincerity, wisdom, compassion, mercy, and the highest levels of intellect. He addressed people in accordance to their understandings and he attracted countless numbers of people to the Truth with his excellent character and fine conduct. It is essential for every Muslim to invite others to the Allah so that they can join us on our voyage to Paradise.
